During my junior year in High School, I decided that I would pursue a career as a High School Counselor. Though it took me years and hard work to get here, it was certainly worth the wait! I am proud to share that I am a first generation college student. My parents didn't go to college and I did not know anyone who attended college. My mentor and guide during the college application process was my AVID teacher.
I am Mrs. Gomez and I grew up in Souther California. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Cal State Long Beach. GO BEACH! I studied a summer abroad at Universidad de Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Shortly after completing my Bachelor's, I attended Cal State Dominguez Hills and completed my Master's Degree in School Counseling and PPS credential. Shortly after, I completed a second Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Cal State Long Beach.
Every day confirms that high school counseling is where I am meant to be. I am surrounded by talented students who inspire me with their strength, resilience, and persistence. I consider myself a goal setter; the same philosophy that I want my students to have in high school and beyond. I have been a school counselor for 10 years and have read applications for the University of California Irvine for 7 years and the University of California Santa Cruz for one year. I love my career and I love going to work every day.
I created this website to provide information that I would have loved to have when I was in high school and to also support me in my counseling role. I hope you find it helpful.
